Wymore Welsh Heritage Project Thank you for your interest in the Wymore Welsh Heritage Project! The idea was born out of an interview done with Ellsworth & Hazel (Jenkins) Closs and Elmo & Milly (Lane) Lloyd of Wymore for publication in Grassroots Nebraska - April 2000. As a result of that interview and subsequent conversations with active Welsh-Americans in Nebraska and across the region, we learned: Do I have to be Welsh?
Work began in May 2000 to inform the community, share our mission and locate an appropriate site for the Welsh Heritage Centre. Wymore's Mayor, Julie Everson, was an instant supporter and suggested a location downtown. We are in the process of raising funds to purchase two buildings on three adjoining lots for development of the center. The main building was built in the late 1880's and is in remarkably good condition. We plan to use the main floor for display, demonstration & meeting space. A second smaller building may provide future administration and display space. All donations are tax-deductible through the Nebraska Community Foundation Account.
